Noteworthy: Dentist's bike ride raises $12K for foundation

Menlo Park dentist Dr. Jan Gabus’ annual “Miles For Smiles” bike ride through Glacier National Park raised nearly $12,000 for the Los Altos-based Mid-Peninsula Dental Health Foundation, which provides dental care for the working poor who have no dental insurance and receive no government assistance.

Over the past nine years, Gabus’ bike rides have raised more than $104,000 for the foundation.

“This year’s bike tour was a tough one due to the various altitudes we ascended and descended to, but it was well worth the effort,” Gabus said. “I’m very thankful to my friends and patients who have supported these rides each year. Their contributions for my Glacier ride topped what I raised last year.”

According to Gabus, the foundation helps hundreds of children and adults “keep on smiling” each year, providing more than $25,000 worth of care in the area.
